Robin Hancock was named
chief child labor inspector on the retirement of Wolfgang Trammell beginning
October 1, 2007. She had been an assistant inspector in the department since
2002 primarily covering North Alabama counties. Ms. Hancock holds a Bachelor’s
degree in criminal justice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and an
Associate’s degree in management and supervision from Jefferson State Junior
College in Birmingham. In college, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the
Golden Key Honor Society. A Navy veteran, she served on the USS Emory S. Land
(AS-39) in Norfolk, Virginia. Ms. Hancock is married and has two children.

Christopher Ammerman, Director

Christopher Ammerman was named director of the Statistical Division in December
of 2007. This section includes the Occupational Safety and Health Statistical
Program, Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) and the OSHA Data
Initiative Program. Mr. Ammerman is a veteran who served in the U.S. Marine
Corps as an enlisted man and in the U.S. Army as an officer. He is a graduate of
Mississippi State University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in communications. He
previously worked for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

Ralph P. Pate was hired as Alabama’s first chief inspector for boilers and
elevators April 5, 2004 shortly after the programs were put in place by the
State Labor Department.
He previously served as deputy safety inspector for the Georgia Department of
Labor, a post he had held since 1985. Responsibilities included boilers and
pressure vessels, elevators and associated equipment and amusement rides as well
as accident investigations.
Prior to joining the Georgia Labor Department, Mr. Pate was employed by Duracell
Battery Company, the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company and
the Kemper Group.
Mr. Pate is an Air Force veteran with experience as a heating systems technician
and boiler operator. He obtained the National Board of Boiler and Pressure
Vessel commission (NB 8935) in 1979. He also attended Alabama Christian College
in Mobile.
He is married to the former Christine McDaniel of Heflin and resides in
Wetumpka.
